South Park Guys Strike Shocking Web Pact

Does your video collection contain cherished copies of BASEketball and Orgazmo? Do you plan your life around episodes of South Park? If so, bookmark Shockwave.com now.

Variety reports that the popular online media provider has negotiated a deal to exclusively host Web-based animated shorts produced by Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone. (Attention rigidly conservative, God-fearing parents: If you've been waffling about childproofing your home Internet browser, now is the time to act.)

Under terms of the deal, which is expected to be formally announced later today, Parker and Stone will conjure up 39 new animated shorts. There's no word as to whether any of their South Park characters will be featured.

The duo will reportedly retain complete creative control and ownership of all content produced under the deal. (And you thought South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut was as lewd and crude as they could possibly be. Ha! Just you wait and see.)

The first shorts, reportedly between two and five minutes in length, are slated to arrive in March and will be created using Macromedia's Flash technology. Characters in the shorts will also be spun off into other entertainment-related offerings available at Shockwave.com, including games and puzzles.

I thought they already did this?

They did allow shorts to be made from current episodes, but now they plan on introducing new characters on the Web first to see how we like them. Those we like will go on to the series or any new SP movies Trey and Matt decide to make. And also to puzzles, games, and other goodies for us. They'll try the same with storylines, but I don't think that's such a good idea.
