Just seen the Roy Schneider episode - who the hell is he? from the episode I'd guess he's a poor man's Jim Carey. Was the criticism justified? is he as annoying as they make him seem?

That's Rob Schneider ...he is an actor. Such films as "the hot chick", "deuce bigalow: male gigolo" ...also was on Saturday Night Live ...

And yes...the criticism was justified ...because the past 3 or 4 movies he did before that episode were always "The *something*" ...and it was annoying...

So-so... most of his movies are lame comedies. He also had some annoying characters on SNL like the guy who sat near the photocopier:

"It's Tim. The Tim-meister. The Tim-inator. Tiiiiiiiiiim." et al.

I thought at first this was Roy Scheider, who played Chief Brody in "Jaws" & Joe Gideon in "All That Jazz", and who I've generally thought of as a pretty good actor.

ROB Schneider is the SNL one trick pony ("making copies").
