What Is Mr. Hat

please help ......sorrry for being dumb but i dont know much about southpark yet. but what is mr. hat? is he some sort of alien or something? i thought he was a puppet but if so how did he break chefs and garrioson from jail? please advise

The only real way to explain Mr. Hat is to tell you to watch the early episodes, which you can probably rent if you're located in the U.S. Mr. Hat makes his debut in the second (?) episode, "Weight Gain 4000" which I'm pretty sure is the on the very first videotape.

Basicaly, he's a puppet, not an alien. One main point about him is that he is the personification of Mr. Garrison's closeted gay side, but it goes a lot further than that.

I think it's part of the joke. Mr. Hat is a puppet who is supposed to represent an unconscious expression of Mr. Garrison's homosexual side. Because Garrison can't admit he is gay, Mr. Hat is the one who has to fantasize about being alone in a sauna with Brett Favre and a bottle of thousand-island dressing. Mr. Hat also gets jealous and attacks Garrison's new puppet, Mr. Twig. The funny part is when Mr. Hat really does act on his own and help Chef and Garrison break out of prison (Garrison couldn't have done it unconsiously).

You sound like you are posting from outside the USA. If you don't mind me asking, what is your nationality, your name appears Japanese. South Park is full of very subtle American cultural references and even when translated properly wouldn't make much sense to foreigners.
