On Wednesday, April 5th, at two minutes and three seconds after 1:00 In the morning, the time and date will be 01:02:03 04/05/06.

You are off by two months. The end of the world will be in June:

Nah, if 666 meant the end of the world, it would have happened June 6 of the year 106, or 206, or 306, or 406, or 506, or 606, or 706, or 806, or 906, or 1006, etc Ir it would've happened in the year 666.

I'd keep that to myself if I were you....Damian.

It's also D-Day.

I'm scared.

Don't think so. D-Day was in 1944. It's the /anniversary/ of D-Day.

Why must this stupid thing infect every single message board I post to?

Apparently, some people find it interesting. What other boards have you seen it on? I posted it to this one, Family Guy and The Simpsons

Chris ®That Guy

It's been on almost every message board I post to, from baseball to Battlestar Galactica.

If I had known it was all over already, I wouldn't have posted it at all. Sorry.

Don't be sorry. Those guys over at Battlestar Galactica cross-post irrelevant shit all the time to other newsgroups!

It hasn't happened here yet. 04/05/06 is 4th May 2006 in countries that apply some form of logic to the date format.

Proper date formats are defined in ISO 8601. Only heretics use anything other than YYYY-MM-DD. See <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_8601> for details.

The world actually ended long ago. I'm not sure of the exact date, I think it was just before the adoption of the first ISO standard.

But fortunately, nobody noticed.

That's right. The components of the date are day, month and year. A day is the smallest, a year is biggest, and a month is in-between. Logically you should order the parts from largest to smallest or the other way around. The method above is perfect for sorting. I don't know who had the bright idea for Americans to put the day in the middle.

It reflects the speech pattern: "April fifth twenty-oh-six".

(I agree that YYY-MM-DD is the best format for dates, by the way. We just don't talk that way.)
