Gee, since the movie came out, seems we got an influx of newbies and most of them don't seem too fucking polite. Not only do they flame the regulars without knowing any of us, but they post stuff about the movie without the proper spoiler titles and spoiler space.

But standard nettiquette states that it is polite to read the specific NG upon which you are wanting to join in on for a little while before leaping in with both feet.
Now that tthe Sp movie has been released this NG is being overrun by people who have jumped on a bandwagon that *we* (the regs) have been trudnling along with (Good times and bad) since SP's conception...
Now.. Maybe some of the newer posters have also been following the Matt and Trey exploits, but then they didn't think so much about it to come here before did they?
The *hardcore* of this NG have been through a hell of a lot over the past year. People coming in from outside to attempt to spread dissention amonngst the regs. (Still lurking Dave??) An out and out troll invasion (which due to our Pledge, we were sucessful in repelling) and heartily ignoring Paul and other boingers... (A LOT of Kudos to Lone Wolf for taking up the reins of Troll Starver....)
It isn't a case of not being way cool. It's a case of not putting up with basic rudeness from people who have never posted here and do not know the way this NG works.
Yes, it is a public forum, but the public on this forum have been almost the same for a long time now, and for people to come in and throw insults at others who they do not know is bad crack!

*Some* of the newbies (I hate the term.. but we're stuck with it) HAVE actually checked out our *Offical FAQ website... I know this cos the numbers have taken a slight jump, and I have received one or two emails about it.. which is nice.
All we ask on here is that you enjoy yourself, but not at the expense of the others... Once we all get to know each other better, THEN the light hearted insults etc become acceptable... for instance...

Yeah, I suppose. If you meant it to hurt, I would have felt it.
I kinda got the feeling that they could have EASILY tightened it up and made a great hour-long show. It's like they had to include enough filler to get it up to an hour-and-a-half so they could justify calling it a feature film. I dunno, it started off like gangbusters, but fell flat halfway through and plodded to the finish line.
Ok ok!! I'm done! Besides, by now I might even be considered a 'reg'.

One of the beauties of Usenet is (or always used to be) that posters are judged on the basis of what they write. On the Internet, no one knows you're a dog. I've only been here for a couple of weeks now, but it certainly appears that the core of this NG forms a tight-knight virtual community. And while I heartily dislike anyone trying to sow dissent, or trolling, I would only hope that this community does not turn inwards as would a clique, to the disadvantage of those who would have been part of that clique had they joined a couple of years earlier. And before anyone takes this the wrong way, I hasten to add I'm NOT accusing anyone of behaving in this way. Hopefully there's room for all serious participants here.

Call it what you will. I was posting here a month after the ng started because there was a lot to discuss with witty, intelligent folks and the show was bleeding edge, generating a lot of issues. Unfortunately, in my opinion, the quality of the show degenerated, became watered down. Coincidentally the quality of posts to the newsgroup seemed to decline as well. Clincher, to me, was the raving over BASEketball. I left. There was nothing to talk about, little worth reading. Now with BLU, SouthPark is back where it started. In your face, not for kiddies.
