Nope, it was Minnie Ripperton (although Phoebe Snow may have covered it in her time). A search on the web reveals that apparently the Orb sampled it in one of their songs.

Has to be Minnie Ripperton. I do'n't have her recording to check, but I do have the first Orb album here, and "m ripperton" is listed among the credits for "A huge ever growing pulsating brain that rules from the centre of the universe (loving u).

Anyhow the sample is used quite a lot in that track.
