Who is that star-shaped blond haired kid in the light blue shirt/jacket that we've been seeing a lot of in the episodes lately? He was first seen in the "Melvins" episode as one of the three melvins Stan was stuck with and a friend of Pip's. We then saw him in the "Chimpoko" episode, in which he was the only one, apart from the regular foursome, sitting on the couch while the scientists try to test their reaction to new toys. In the "Monkey Fonics" episode, he was one of the bullies giving the new kid a hard time. He seems like a bit of an enigma. What exactly is his role on the show supposed to be.

His name is butters.....he was also the kid who touched cartman in the SP movie....it looks like Trey and Matt are trying to give the more minor background characters bigger roles.

Which I think is cool, because I like the minor background characters-that is, the children. Me personally, I'm a huge fan of Clyde and Craig. I loved it that Craig was the ringleader in picking on that homeschool kid Mark. They should totally feature the other kids more. Craig, Pip, Butters, and Tweek have had their time in the spotlight- it's time to focus on Clyde, Token, and Kevin- especially Clyde! He rules!

Token is the only black boy in South Park with a letter T on his purple shirt. He's the "token" black kid in the show. In the homeschool kids episode Rebecca, the homeschool kids turned slut, pinches Token's ass as the school dance and whispers to him, "Come see me later ok?" to which Token responds, "What the-? Damn baby."

I'd love to see The Mole return.....!
Why? I think the reason why these three characters have gotten so little coverage on the show is because they're really quite generic, and serve mainly as fillers for "ordinary kid" type roles, whereas Craig, Pip, Butters, and Tweek are quite distinct. Token's only distinguishing feature is that he's black, and we've almost completely forgotten about Kevin.

Well, the boy with the star-shaped hairdo is Butters. Like the other minor characters, he's been around since the first episode. Trey and Matt just recently decided to give him a personality.The only new kids to be introduced into the show have been:

Of these, only Tweek stayed. Since Mark can now attend public school, it would be nice to see him in a few more episodes.

I'm surprised you missed the "-American" part of it. It's often said that the native-born (read "U.S.") children of immigrants adapt rather well to the American lifestyle, leaving a culture gap between themselves and their parents. Kevin personifies this with his big "American" eyes rather than Chinese ones.
