1. I agree. 2. On the strength of one rented episode, I liked the show enough to buy all of the tapes and download the rest of the episodes, having never watched it before. As someone who doesn't laugh at toilet humor or mindless cartoon violence, I can say that South Park so far has been witty, clever, and entertaining, and from the promos of next week's episode, it looks like it will continue to be. 3. One of the few things that could ruin the show would be constant repeating of past jokes, and as the IKE episode showed(Chef was funny without doing another song, the Kenny death, while quick, was also clever, and it avoided a lot of the other repeating comedy patterns), the writers are NOT running out of ideas. 4. The main reason why the Christian Coalition and its clones are upset about South Park(as if badmouthing television shows really pleads God's case for them) is because people are treating it with the devotion of a religion. South Park t-shirts instead of WWJD paraphenalia(which makes me wonder why SP merchandising executives haven't capitalized on that yet--I'd like to see a shirt that has WWJD right above a picture of South Park's Jesus on his show, saying, "Let's take another call), and it pisses them off. I personally can't see why. Anything remotely offensive that has been shown on South Park has its equal in the Bible... incest, adultery, murder, sadism... on the other hand, it doesn't use words we might be offended by, so naturally it's good for our children to read. 5. Finally, in closing I'd just like to say that if South Park does start going downhill, it would not mean the show sucked. It would simply mean that they need new writers, and if the viewer response was big enough, they would recognize this fact and try to improve the show.

I have watched each and every episode with devotion, and loved every second. The few times I have not laughed are when I've seen the episode more than 5 times (save Thanksgiving and Mr. Hankey I didn't even *bother* watching the Marathon). South Park forever!
It's post such as this that I keep returning to this nursery of a ng. Carrig, your post is a breath of fresh air and I would say that even if I didn't agree with you. But I do & that makes it even better.
