So do I, as it would have made him look like an even bigger idiot that he did in that first debate.

Contrary to Sorkin and Porter's hallucinations, Gore's resume didn't look all that good anyway, certainly not enough so to distinguish it from Bush's. Both got mediocre grades in top-name colleges that they hadn't really earned their way into, and neither of them distinguished themselves that much from then on. Indeed, the biggest difference between their resumes is the fact that Bush completed his MBA at Harvard, while Gore dropped/flunked out of two graduate programs (divinity school and law school) at a less prestigious school. The only part of Gore's resume that really shines relative to Bush's is the job he held from 1993 to 2000, and it's not as though voters were unaware of that detail at the time of the election.

That said, Sorkin's own resume - as opposed to those of practically everyone working for him - probably doesn't look much better. One has to wonder what the odds are that Sorkin would hire himself.

Gotta love that bumper sticker logic. Then again, expecting rational thoughts from people who intentionally muck up their own cars with ugly stickers may be too much to hope for.

Do you think there is anybody else on the planet with a Harvard master's degree that would say "subliminable"? Why is that?

How so? Given the damage done by the supposedly "intelligencia elite" of Clinton/Gore/Reno, I as yet see no harm done by GW, not that none will come.

One of the vitally important things to learn from the history of abuse of POWER by presidents and Congress is that when Republicans abuse their power they get caught and the media beats that drum untill countless new laws get passed to prevent a similar abuse of power in the future.

HOWEVER, historically when Democrats abuse their power that abuse of power is mostly ingored by the media and whatever method was used to abuse power becomes an accepted practice that others continue to do and to build upon in the future.

Just to give you an example, when even the slightest appearance of a potential infringement on the First Amendment seems to be underway by a Republican, then a massive "the sky is falling" campaign begins to scream about it and stop it, even IF the potential subject of the appearant infringement is someone or something utterly evil and disgusting by anyone's standards.

However, when Democrats continually and openly assault and try to totally eliminate and abridge the Second Amendment so that harmless law-abiding people are denied their right to choose to own guns, then the media just ridicules anyone who complains and helps out the campaign by making up wildly irrational lies about gun-owners to help demonize ordinary good people.

Basically put, when Republicans abuse power the method of abuse gets cut-off and is a one-time anaomoly, but when Democrats abuse power it becomes a cumulative thing like a snowball rolling downhill. Over time it gets easier and easier to abuse power because these Democrat methods just become part of the normal activities of government and people don't even question them.

Go check history yourself, the abuses done by Nixon, Regan, Bush Sr. all resulted in direct actions to make such methods of abuse both explicitly illegal, but also puts monitoring methods in-place to make hiding the use of such methods damn near impossible.

However, the abuse of power by JFK, Johnson, Carter, Clinton and their administrations mostly became excuseable as "the ends justify the means" and as such no laws were passed to outlaw those methods and they became main-streamed methods of abuse of power for future politicians to use.

I assume you mean that part?

Sounds more like a paranoid crazoid to meee... QUICK! Check under youtr bed! THOSE DUST BUNNIES!! THEY COULD BE ... COMMUNISTS!

[cue up "Timmy" voice from "Lassie":]

Little me, Glug Havesum, only a kid back in the early 1960s, but with a nagging question.

"What if my Mom and Dad are ... Communists??"

My three brothers, Blob, Brap and Fleeth, my parents and I, lived on a fortified island. It was a sensitive, strategic speck in a vast ocean; a bulwark against Communist invasion.

I never really thought about it, it seemed so natural, but we four boys kept a "shiplist," a list of every ship that came to the island. It was our "hobby." How convenient that our house sat right at the entrance to the harbor.

Our house was also in the flight paths of two major air fields. Our Dad encourages us to keep a "plane list," a list of all the different aircraft we saw. It all seemed innocent enough...

Until one night. I sat up in bed, finally realizing the import of all the lists we had been keeping!

"Holy cow! If the Communists ever got their hands on our lists, the island ... I mean, our country, would fall in a day!"

I scrambled out of bed and ran over to our "treasure chest" to see if the lists wee safe and sound. BUT THEY WERE...

"GONE!! Oh, no!"

Then I noticed, my three brothers were missing from their bunk beds!

I ran to my parents' room ... "Mom, Dad! Hey!!" But THEY weren't there either!

I heard noises in the street... Military Police had everyone; Mom, Dad, Blop, Brap and Fleeth, at gunpoint! I could guess why.

The Commander of the M.P.s saw me and shouted, "HEY KID! C'mere."

He told me, "Now listen, young man, we know these traitors are your family. We caught 'em on the beach with a signaling device... Probably contacting a Commie submarine! They won't talk. What do YOU know about a ... 'List'?"

"<gulp!> N-nothing, Sir!" I replied.

Just then, hundreds of Communists burst from the darkness and gunned down the Military Police before our very eyes!

The invading Communists greeted my family like ... like old friends. So it was true! I had been right all along! My family was a family of Commie spies!

"Welcome, Comrades!" said my Dad. Their leader replied, "Your signals assured the success of our attack! Now, let us have 'lists' of imperialist ship and plane movements! But wait! Who is that boy over there?"

They were talking about ME!

"Well, young man," the leader said to me, "Are you a true follower of Marx and Lenin, like the rest of your family?"

"N-no <ulp!>," I said, "I'm a Democrat!"

I could not have been prepared for what happened next!

I thought I was a goner for sure, but the leader of the Communists did not shoot. In fact, he smiled... And cheered!

The other Commies began to jump up and down and cheer!

"That's the right answer!" "He's passed the test!" "Hooray for King Glug!"

And then, an even more incredible thing happened!

They peeled off their faces!

THEY WERE MARTIANS!!!

"Greetings, King Glug!" one said to me.

"I don't understand!" I said. "What's going on here?? Why are you calling me King Glug? What test did I pass? Mom?? Dad??"

"Listen, Glug, we will explain everything. You see, the Martians need a new King, and you have been chosen. Your entire life has been a continuous testing process. We manipulated events in such a way that you had to make crucial decisions. Tonight, you proved to us that, when the 'chips were down,' you would protect your family; and later, even though you faced death, you would remain true to your own ideals. We are proud to call you King!"

"You mean my family isn't real??" "Only actors!" "What about those soldiers you killed??" "ROBOTS!"

"B-but what about the ships ... the planes ... and buildings? The people on the streets?"

"Holographic projections! Sometimes of course we had to construct entire buildings, even cities! Our last King was a real stickler for detail! Mountains and oceans were painted backdrops. It took hundreds of barracks to house the thousands of extras it took to fill your world!"

"Y-you mean I'm the only human on Earth??"

"Not exactly, Glug. You see, there's no such thing as Earth! You've really been living on an asteroid we fixed up for you!

"But don't feel bad, Glug, you have a new world, one to call your own ... now that you're Lord of the Universe, and King of the Commies from Mars!"

END.

LOON ON THE LOOSE! True Tales of ZORAK COURIERS By Joe Schwind (1979)

The Mother Lode was doin bout 95 on the outskirts of a fillin station called Gulfport. A solid week of aspirin, Coke, and concrete.

The monster melted away; Mother rammed into a tree. Another foul Pimbledon telepathic decoy!

"Charm Spot of the Deep South."

AMERICA IS SHORT 100,000 MECHANICS AND 25,000 SHOPS.

Agent McNab was on my tail. I snarfed the evidence and scrammed.

Scored some hot credit cards and a ride to St. Paul. Slept all the way. Bought a Longer Thicker at Cordial John's Auto World.

Split for the desert.

Met a whacked-out physicist called Captain Video in Pietown, New Mexico. He had some futuristic schemes.

The Captain converted the Thicker in a week. Gave him an ounce of meth I copped at the border. The Thicker was one in a million!

Cap was nailed in '59. He converted eight cars, the Pimbledons recovered five.

Picked up a gang of escaped Lobotomoids in Leawood, Kansas. Lost them at a rest area near Birdseye, Indiana.

They were maimed by Pimbledon butchers for display at causeless telethons.

Bumped into a wild thing named Raydine in Ann Arbor. The cheese was ripe for dropping out.

We left Detroit in rush hour, no particular place to go.

THE MIRACLE OF OWNING BIG CARS.

Parked for a week in a pasture in Peewee Valley, Kentucky. Soaked the upholstery with blood and jiz. Raydine kept humming "Bluberry Hill." I got used to it.

A "LIFT" FOR THE OLD FOLKS.

We gobbled six boxes of airsickness pills on Haunted Hiway Nine. Couldn't stand but I could almost drive.

Raydine foamed at the mouth for 700 miles. When I remembered how to stop the Thicker we were on a Flathead reservation in Montana.

"OK" SAY FOUR WHEEL DRIVE OWNERS.

Raydine joined the Sisterhood of Aural Sensualists in Rolla, Mo. The burg stunk of Pimbledons and the welts on my ass needed time to heal, so I drove into the sunset, a bottle of Bud between my legs.

The law stopped me outside of Mayberry, near Mount Pilot.

The cop was too loaded or too goofy to run a make on the Thicker.

We found a possum stuck to the grill.

The Longer Thicker melted down on Pahute Mesa in Nevada. The fuel rods were burnt out and I could feel feel something gaining on me.

Didn't look back.

Of course it is. It is also (now) a cultural thing. The real reason Clinton angers so many on the "right" is that he is to them an embodiment of questioning of Reagan. To understand that you have to understand what Reagan is/wa to these folk. He was the icon of undoing "The Sixties." The really bizzare thing about reading what these people write in this forum is that SP couldn't have come into existence if there had been no "Sixties" that "Reagan" was supposed to have obliterated (or if "Reagan" had been able to obliterate them).
