My Favourites From This Week's Ep (or It's Late, I'm Bored, Bite Me)

Just to add a little more pointlessness into our lives, since nobody is talking about the new ep save the continuity thing (which I think is brilliant, BTW..), here are some of the episode's more brilliant moments:

Dougie. I am firmly convinced that Dougie is a younger Matt Stone. ("I like math." "..Oh, God..")

Wickershuns. Whoever came up with that is a genius. Nobody else could make up something so incredibly stupid off the top of their head..oh no, now I've got the damn song in my head again..'Yippie tippie too loo, tra la la la..'

The whole Charlie's Angels thing. I've never seen the show, but I can indeed imagine.

*Everything* about Randy and Gerald. That was just twisted..and I am firmly convinced along with them that everyone is indeed slightly gay at one point or another.

"We're going to set fire to the house." "Isn't that a little dangerous?" "I know, but we can't let them kill themselves." Preventing mass suicide by killing them all. Gotta love that ATF..

And finally (as far as I can remember, I'm sure I had more), my favourite line of the episode..."Attention, religious cult people. Do not commit suicide. There are so many reasons not to kill yourselves. Flowers, for instance. And backrubs." The way he said it, the two reasons he gave...there was something very hysterical about that line.

Anyone else want to add to the list?

It was funny, but flawed. What would 8-year olds know of Charlie's Angels?

Flawed? It's a cartoon, the characters can know anything the cartoonist(s) want them to know.

Toons! Bill Lynch

Yeah, but c'mon. The could have picked a more recent show to spoof.

I mean, they're pre-teens arguing over who got to be Jacklyn Smith.

Don't make me employ the Chewbacca defense.

It's a cartoon for crissakes! Suspend your disbelief for 30 minutes and you might enjoy the show more. I thought the charlie's angels bit was hilarious!

It's not about "suspending disbelief". If it was, I'd never have gotten past the first episode. It's about a reasonable assumption and a logical leap. Ask a group of 8-year old kids what they know of "Charlie's Angels" and you'll get my point.

I thought it was funny too, and I said as much, but it could have been much funnier if they had selected a show that one could logically assume the children actually watched.

I don't think you're getting the point, the whole thing about 8 years olds knowing about Charlie's Angels was pretty damn funny considering that I am 23 and barely remember them, plus it was a damn cheesy show that had a female cast, even funnier that they are impersonating females!

Because I disagree, I must not be "getting the point"?

Please.

No, not because you disagree, simply because you don't get the point. Do you understand the meaning of "suspension of disbelief"? It's a theatrical term meaning the audience is supposed to supend their disbelief in any particular part of the movie, or play, that may seem anachronous (that means out of place or time) or incongruent (that means not compatible with) with accepted rational explanations, such as eight year old kids being familiar with "charlies angels". Do you get my point? I don't think I could spell it out any better, and usually the readers of this NG are smart enough to see it. Hope I don't have to spend this much time explaining everything for you. Marvin

Davestarvin' marvin

I'll use big letters so you understand:

I GET THE POINT, I JUST DIDN'T THINK IT WAS FUNNY.

If any part of that flew past you, please e-mail me and I'll try to explain it a little more clearly.

Though I don't see how I could.

I saw Cartman's Mom on the phone. It's when you first see the house from the outside, through the ATF nightvision goggles.

And, yes, I think Butters and Dougie are Trey and Matt.

Also, did I hear right? Was the TV reporter's name Derek Smalls?

I disagree. I Butters is just some damn annoying kid who doesn't know when to shut up and has to make stupid comments on everything.

You sure did. Heheh.. Where is Nigel and David? ;)

<nods> I saw no similarity whatsoever between Butters and Trey. If Trey talked like that, I'd have sooner shot him than admired him for this long..but that's a story for another day.
