Butters = Porky Pig?

Anybody else also see the similarities? Tendency to stutter and constantly shoot off the ol' yapper, similar voices, and use of words like 'golly'.

No, not Porky. But there was another cartoon character who Butters is very reminiscent of. A little chipmunk/squirrel/mouse type creature, I think it was called Sniffles or something similarly 'cutesy'.

I'm 99% sure that Butters is based on a Warner Brothers character called "Sniffles". He's a mouse with a vertually identical voice who appeared in dozen or so WB cartoons (I remember one where he meets a bat, and the two team up to teach a lesson to a particularly nasty feline)

Sniffles was later brought back, in a fashion, as Lil' Sneezer on Tiny Toon Adventures, albeit a much young version of the character with a devastating sneezing ability.
