...The freakish, Extremely psychotic Right Wingers haven't yet found this NG yet? I give them two more weeks before they find this and decide to spread their crap... Of course, I might be wrong. They might've lurched in here before I became a part of it all... HAVE they? I only remember seeing some nutcase on an animation NG screaming: "WATCH SOUTH PARK OR BE CHRISTIAN!" Geesh. You can't have both? News to me... ~

They have, or rather, *she* has. Only one person so far (unless there was another in the first 3 weeks of the newsgroup's existence, when my server didn't get it) has burst in to tell us how upset she was. She announced that she'd received phonecalls from two people who make it their business to get rid of things like SP. Naturally we all cowered in fear. Not! Then, after making some really pathetic threats to the group and receiving some unique responses, dear "Edwina" stopped posting.

A big obstacle to the self-appointed guardians of public morality when it comes to South Park is that the show does so well ratings-wise and therefore will probably make tons of money for Comedy Central. So a handful of redfaced twits "protesting" it isn't gonna frighten anyone.

Yeah, but Edwina was just a troll, not a real outraged right-winger. I expect we'll get a few real ones sooner or later, but I expect most of the flaming will be between the people who think each new episode is the best one ever and those that firmly believe that the series has sunk to a new low every week.

And then there will be the spam...

I was a little bothered by Jesus's language in "Spirit of Christmas." I doubt that Jesus would call Santa a F***ing P**sy

That's really the only thing that has bothered me. I do accept it as satire and NOT as some Satanic cartoon. The world could use a little more satire. (where is Mr Freberg today anyway?)

I've been checking all the do-gooder sites such as Don Wildmon's AFA, Reed Irvine's misnamed "Accuracy In Media" and Brent Bozell's "Media Research Center" regularly since SP started, and nary a whisper. Rest assured, if I spot anything, I'll post it here...

Guess I gotta get up my courage and start monitoring the "700 Club" again...

Franklin Brinson beat on the keyboard and out came:

To post something obviously (or subtly) counter to the Usenet discussion group in order to get a rise out of people. Usually it's a hit and run kind of thing but sometimes the 'troller' will keep working it. In the latter case, its tough to tell if the person is serious or not - trollers NEVER use smilies ;^).

It can also be a case where someone at a computer lab has left themselves logged on to go to the bathroom or something. While the luser is gone, the prankster will walk over and quickly crank out something offensive. Thus, the poor luser is flooded with hate mail (not unlike E-SPAM).

An example would be to go to alt.sex.homosexual and posting what Mr Garrison said to Stan about being gay. Try it, its fun! Just be sure and use someone else's address.
