Do you have documentation on this phenomena, this is the first I've heard of this with T-160's. Folks have said the same with 110 min audio cassettes, and have *never* had one of those break or stretch either. 120 minute tapes on the other hand...
I still think far more tape breaks can be pinned on poor deck maintainance than on crappy tape. I've only had one tape get eaten in 6 years, and that was because my idler-arm died. That was also the last time any of my decks were serviced by someone not Mitsubishi certified.
No real documentation, just personal experience.
Probably true, but then again, I don't trust my friends to properly maintain VCRs. :-)

Although it didn't effect dubbing (it was my playback deck), it was very annoying. Next service stop was an authorized service center. Never heard that noise again.
Thank goodness the tape that got ate was nothing important, otherwise I would certainly remember what got eaten :)

Nope - a T-160 fits 7 episodes at SP, genius.

Hm... A T120 is 2 hours at SP allowing for 4 episodes. A T160 is about 2 hrs 40 minutes allowing for 5 and a partial episode.
Now maybe with editing the intro to each episode and every commercial you might get 7 on the tape.

Each episode without ads (but with full intro and closing credits) is a few seconds shy of 23 minutes, so yeah, you can. (And five on a T-120 incidentally)
