Meanwhile, as Dildo Buggers molested his nephew Frito in the arse, Goodgulf played card tricks on Arrowroot of Arrowshirt while Eorache bellowed and Gimlet and Legolam fought the Ballhog and Spam Gangree laffed at the Nozedrool's plight.

I've read it. I'll take D & D to that boring Herbert bullshit any old day of the week.

And you only call it D & D rubbish because TSR and so many authors ripped ideas from Tolkien's pages, inundating the world with midieval fantasy tripe. If not for the volumous upchuck that is Dragonlance and the like, Tolkien's work would not be as hidden behind the fantasy trash as it is today.

To each, his or her own.

Yes, you are right. Wellll, I call it D&D rubbish because of the stuff I've seen people do in D&D, SCA, etc that is prevalent in Tolkiens works: pompous pageantry. The story line for LotR is quaint, and I like the fact that it draws out so you can get a sense of the time the story requires (books..movies never captured this element) in order to be told. Every frickin tree, and every glade, dell, and glenn is yapped about, everytime the Hobbits get bloody hungry (which is talked about ad nauseum), and of course the language used is rather flowery if not saying much at all. Agains, quaint story, but not really epic in my mind. Note- in my mind = my opinion...I'm not telling you that you shouldn't like it.

OP: get the concept. SP makes cultural references you might not be familiar with. So does the rest of the world. Broaden your scope, if you like.

I wouldn't call watching that piece of shit LOTR "broadening my scope".

Hm. "Rick" might be someone who works for CC, or be on the production staff of SP. Or both.
