Thoughts on 4/1/98

I have to say I'm somewhat disappointed by last nights ep - not because we didn't find out who Fatass' pop was, but because the ep itself was a letdown. Of course, being a southerner who sees no humor in laughing at Canada (or Celine Dion), I guess that's understandable. I must admit that I lost it at Saddam Hussein's Darth Vader quote. Other than that though, the show lacked the outrageous humor that is typical of SP. I guess I'll just sit back and listen to all the NEW theories about Cartman's dad for 4 weeks. Oh well....

Oooooooh, another thought. Consider this: Matt and Trey weren't ready for tonights ep. Realizing that with all of the hoopla revolving around this show, they postponed it until they could find a truly great way to reveal the father. Hell, my annoying perfectionist attitudes have often caused a project to be late, so why couldn't it happen to Matt and Trey?

During the credits they said they would reveal his father in another few weeks.

If you believe that... ah, never mind. You're too gullible.

Then he'd believe the word "gullible" isn't in the dictionary?

Well... they DID reveal who his dad was. Unfortunately, not to us. We'll find out soon, I'm sure.

Well, I'll throw in my thoughts and re-lurk:

I was hopeful that Trey and Matt would bite the bullet and tell us who Cartman's dad is, only to have the April Fool's joke be a creative last minute negation of the whole stupid concept, but I thought they might do something like this. As a joke, I didn't care for how it was presented, but as a 30 minute show, I thought it was slightly above average. I know that I could not find more laughs than I got from any other show on at 10 on Wednesday, but it wasn't a riot either. Also, I don't think that Matt and Trey did this to make the show more popular, to piss people off, or to screw with everybody's head. They did this because it made them light up with pure creative joy. They know that the franchise is on auto pilot and that they couldn't drum up any more publicity than they're getting now, so that's the only explanation I can come up with.

That's just my thought...

Yeah, I was kinda dissapointed, although it was better than whatever else was on! Not telling Cartmans pops was just staright out mean!!!!
