Definition of criminal conspiracy: Person A (i.e. Manson) plans a crime. He directs persons B, C and D (i.e. Watson, Atkins and Krenwinkel) to commit that crime. Persons B, C and D commit said crime. Person A is just as guilty as persons B, C and D because person A planned the crime and had the motive.
