HELP! What format is this?

Hey everyone...I need some assistance here. I downloaded a couple of episodes which are in a compression form that I don't recognize. The files all end with numbers, i.e., .001, .002, .003, etc. Does anyone know what program I need to decode and combine these files? Thanks in advance!!!

Well, I tried WinRAR already and it didn't recognize the file extensions...with the new version of WinRAR, the files end in .rar, not just with numbers. I'll try Winace anyway....thanks for the idea. :-)

Winace, Winzip - one of these two will decode it. Normally though, you need all the parts of the file to make it work. Rar files start with .rar and move on to .r01, .r02, .r03, etc... ZIP files start with .zip and go on to .000, .001, etc.

Some compressed files that winAce will open do start 001 and go from there. It will work.

No, you can't. The .001, .002, etc. has nothing to do with splitting posts. In fact, you sometimes find files that are .001, etc. that *are* additionally split into multiple posts by your newsreader. These need to be combined & decoded in the newsreader to form the .001, etc. files. *Then* you need to use a splitting/unsplitting program to assemble *these* parts.
