I was wondering if series two would be the last one.

Why? Well... Beavis and Butthead made their series and then a movie... Star trek and TNG made their series and then the movies... Rugrats movie is on it's way (in the UK) Is it still being made?? ( I dunno)

Anyway... this is my point.. There is, as we all know, a HELL of a lot of merchandise out there, and now there is a movie coming out. TV studios usually only look at movies as a "Let's make one last lot of money" tactic, and I was wondering if Matt and Trey gave the go ahead for the movie because they are aware that SP 'does' have a limited lifespan??

Are Matt and Trey in it purely for the money? (Is anyone in this business in it for any other reason?)

Not that there is anything WRONG with that (per se), but surely to pull the plug on something due to a Take The Money And Run attitude is a bit too mercenary!! I *know* no-one is actually saying that the 2nd series is the last.. I'm only speculating...

If it came to a question of creativity, Jeez, just look at the NG.. HOW many fanfic writers are there out there?? Alright, some of the scripts are short and use non-characters, but hey... RAW material!!

Anyway. Dunno if I've really put across what I was trying to say, but what the hell...

No idea, but the contract is for another year's worth of new shows. So, unless they can find a way for major stalling, there will be a new series.

hope so! and i have confidence SP shows will go on and on, becoz even me, a guy from Hong Kong, do like SP very much. it is an addictive toons, which i rarely met over last 16 yrs of my life. SP's now spreading to world wide, wondering if sometime later eskimos can see it~

True the Simpsons didn't come into their own until then but at first they enjoyed more popularity that sp does right now. Remember all of the t shirts and notebooks and what have you. Plus in season one they had the Burger King tie in with the cups (or was it season 2?). And I liked most of the first season epps of off (our favorite family), they're even better when you look back. I agree it will be interesting to see.

Actually, yeah. You may well be right... There *was* a lot of merchandise. I just can't remember if it was out in the UK as soon as the Simpsons were released... I know that we didn't get OFF over here as quickly as we got SP after it's initial release...

I almost killed myself 2 days ago driving back to Dundee from Falkirk, after being Robert Burns all night and not having slept in 2 and a half days (Not properly), and I fell asleep and found myself heading towards a bend, (On a road I shouldn't have been on and with NO knowledge how I got there!!) Last night I was in bed before 10 pm and didn't get up until 11 this am...!!

I'll ask some of the brits in ats and get back to you with a real time frame.

I have weird sleeping patterns. I'm a night owl so I don't get tired until 6 or 7 am, but by then I would only get a few hours of sleep anyway so I usually stay up all night and then go to bed early the next night (10:30, after the Simpsons is over).

So am I. If all of this simpsons talk annoys any one let me know and I will mock you profusely.

I'd say that Matt and Trey are there both for the creative outlet and the money. They may be making a lot of money doing something they love, or they may just be making a lot of money.

Rugrats, methinks, is in it's 3rd season...it still is being made (according to some article I just read a few days ago).

Well, everything has a limited lifespan, I'd say. I know, from taking certain South Park watching specimens from my school/town, that a lot of them just watch it and all, since it's part of the "In-Thing Trend" to do and all. Once these bandwagoner-types move on to something new, there'll be less of an audience. But, South Park will probably have a Looong lifespan, since there are MANY real fans, that don't just watch 'cause it's "The Thing Of The Moment". I know that about 100% of the people that I see post here are the real fan types and all! :) I, myself, will NEVER yawn, and run along. <envisions myself writing South Park fanfics when I'm 50 ;)>

I think the movie might be done to please the fans. On the bigscreen, Matt and Trey have more freedom and all...less censorship, for one. Kinda the Full South Park experience of sorts! :) And, who wouldn't want to see their favorite TV show full-size in theaters? Of course, money would be considered, as well. ;P

Well, from what I've read, they wrote stuff like this back in college and all. I think they do it 'cause they like to. Of course, again, money is another good reason..I mean, I doubt they're like:
