SOUTH PARK SHOW SYNOPSIS Weds. 10:00 pm ET/PT - Comedy Central South Park, this seemingly quiet town nestled in the Colorado Rockies, is the home of TV's newest sick and twisted animated series. The show features Kyle, Kenny, Cartman, and Stan, third graders who encounter the strange, unexplainable and weird-including anal probes from aliens, killer African-ized bees, and The Grim Reaper. Stan is the group's leader. He is rarely the butt of the kid's jokes and is secretly in love with a schoolmate. Kyle is the smart one, but also easily persuaded. The only Jewish kid, Kyle gets abused for being Jewish but is not sure what it means.
Cartman is the fat kid - horribly spoiled by his single mother and is often the target for the other kid's ribbing. Kenny is the poor kid. He is not particularly bright and is the first one to take a dare. Kenny dies in every episode.
South Park also features Chef, a tubby, lovable Southerner, played by Issac Hayes. Chef moved to Colorado because he is an avid UFO fanatic and South Park is universally known to be the Hub for all alien activity (the real South Park County, CO has one of the highest number of UFO sightings in the world). In an attempt to advise the boys, Chef will often break into blue-sy R&B numbers peppered with suggestive and explicit lyrics.
Another important figure in the boy's life is their teacher, Mr. Garrison. Mr. Garrison has a hand puppet as a constant companion: Mr. Hat. Unfortunately, Mr. Garrison is an untalented ventriloquist who speaks in stream of consciousness ramblings and Mr. Hat has a psychotic mind of his own.
Other characters include Wendy Testaburger, a friend of the boys and the apple of Stan's eye; Officer Barbrady, the town cop who is practiced at government cover-ups; and Uncle Jimbo & Ned, Stan's uncle and his hunting buddy, who fish with hand grenades and disintegrate deer with anti-aircraft missiles.
Featuring episodes with enticing titles like, "Cartman Gets an Anal Probe," "Weight Gain 4000," and "Big Gay Al's Big Gay Boat Ride", South Park has become a hit with viewers everywhere.
South Park is based on an animated short called "The Spirit of Christmas." The short was created by Matt Stone and Trey Parker for Brian Graden, a Foxlab executive who sent it out as a Christmas card. It quickly became the underground secret vice of Hollywood.
