South Park loses Emmy to The Simpsons

The Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program was given out August 29. The bad news is that South Park's "Big Gay Al's Big Gay Boat Ride" episode lost the Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program (the show's only Emmy nomination) to The Simpsons' episode, "Trash of the Titans". Who in the name of god is going to give *another* award to the Simpsons. Give someone else a chance, for crying out loud!

I'm a Simpsons fan, but "Trash of the Titans" was a TERRIBLE episode, which was only significant because it was the 200th episode. I would have much rather seen South Park win.

I really was pulling for SP in this one, particularly since the writer of the 200th Simpsons episode (Ian Maxtone-Graham) is an egoistic bastard who got the job without any knowledge of the characters (he didn't even know who Rod and Todd Flanders were until someone told him) and insults internet fans on a regular basis.

I can think of a few SP episodes that probably would have been better qualified. "Anal Probe". Maybe "Weight Gain 4000" or the "Drugs Are Bad" episode. (My favorite episode, incidentally, is "Not Without My Anus" but you can't really count that as an SP episode)

Perhaps "Big Gay Al" was the 'least offensive' of the lot and therefore was submitted for nomination.

Come to think of it, Mike Scully was one of the cheerleaders of the dismal 200th Simpsons episode and I imagine he's responsible for it's submission.

Big Gay Al's Big Gay Boat Ride was one of the best eps of South Park (although Pink Eye ranks high up there as well). This one was really nice and offensive to religious groups, and yet it raised a very important point -- it's okay to be gay.

Several of the earlier episodes (which I'm re-viewing now every few days, with a South Park newbie), are sprinkled with the same "live-and-let-live" theme. It's not usually heavyhanded; it's just in the margin somewhere. Sometimes it's done simply by depicting the stupidest or most repellent characters being offhandedly homophobic (like Mephisto's kid & his buds).

We have a language interface problem here,,in my country OK,,means "right on,,you got it !" it is a stamp of approving acknowledgement..America hasn't conquered the world yet..remember you are in an international forum amongst "kids" .
