Soooo, let's see, it took about 4 months for Isaac Hayes to "stand up" for his beliefs, what rubbish. Obviously THEY got to him, I wonder what they did or said?
This is a perfect example of the insidious nature of $cientology; they work quietly from the inside, carefully researching for the weakest link in an opponent. In this case church member Hayes was that weakest link, and getting him (a favorite character) to quit the show was ultimately their best retaliation.
And as a side benefit, it makes getting into a public head to head battle with SP unnecessary, and so they seemingly come away with clean hands.
Truly insidious.
