THE BEST SOUTHPARK EP EVER....

Y'know, I think it's funny how everyone is always interested in this topic. Think about how ridiculous it is. The series has grown out of its dark basement room style of gross-out foolishness to something much more intelligent and subtle, yet still retaining an edge. One could argue the first episode is the best on the factor that it CHANGED THE COURSE OF TELEVISION FOREVER. It was like a breath of fresh air to the subdued, overly-organized, conversative hoo-ha that is "normal" television. Ever since "Cartman Gets an Anal Probe" aired, the limits of what can be broadcast on television have been pushed to the extreme, again and again and again and again. However, compared with the episodes that were to follow, "CGaAP" was childish, weakly plotted, and lacking in hard-hitting jokes. Later episodes like "Flashbacks", "Chef's Salty Chocolate Balls", "Merry Christmas Charlie Manson", the "Meteor Shower" trilogy, "Starvin' Marvin in Space", "Chinpoko Mon", "Are You There, God? It's Me, Jesus", "Worldwide Recorder Concert", "Quintuplets 2000", and "Do the Handicapped Go to Hell?" showcased a more adult, well-composed, yet still ludicrously bizarre side of the show that the creators obviously had ready to give to us the entire time.

So think what you will. Everybody has a favorite episode. I think "Rainforest Schmainforest" is a below par episode, yet some people love it. A lot of people hated "Not Without My Anus" -- I loved it. A lot of people hated the more recent episode, "Pip" -- I sat through the episode, enjoying the story I had already read, and laughing at the signature Matt-n-Trey twists at the end. I knew it wouldn't be a straightforward telling of the story.

If I were to pick some of my favorites, they would be: "Mr. Hankey, the Christmas Poo", "Cartman's Mom Is a Dirty Slut", "Flashbacks", "Chef's Salty Chocolate Balls", "Roger Ebert Should Lay Off the Fatty Foods" (at first I didn't like it but it's growing on me), "Prehistoric Ice Man", and "Starvin' Marvin in Space." I remember taping the "Underpants Gnomes episode" (ep. 217), and then going home in the Summer to a region that did not have CC. I watched the episode just about every night, and never got tired of it. I can actually recite most of the episode's dialogue off the top of my head.

I'm more of a fan of the season 2 episodes, like ep. 207 (Flashbacks) and ep. 212(Clubhouses).

I've seen the series up to Chinpokomon (3rd season) so far.

The first two "Mr. Hankey"-episodes (Christmas poo and the one with film festival coming to South Park). Chickenlover (Barbrady easily deserved to have a main role in an episode or two). Starvin' Marvin, Not without My Anus, Chinpokomon... Can not say which one is the best, but those comes to mind right now. I like Ned & Jimbo characters, which makes Volcano and the Mexican staring-frog episodes very likable, but I wouldn't rank them among the best otherwise...

Definitely. In fact, the first three episodes were the three best ever. Not because they were more clever or well plotted or groundbreaking than any of those that followed, but because there I was flipping channels, nothing on, *click* lame *click* boring *click* What the?!? Holy shit!! What the hell did I just click into here, this is incredible!! RING -- RING Hello? Yeah, I'm watching it! What the hell is this?!? I don't know but it's f*cking *hysterical*!!

After the first three episodes, that particular feeling died, and with it the chances of any episode to come of making me feel that way again.

There will never be another CGaAP.

For me it was just the opposite. It took me almost the entire first season to really like SP.

It used to be my fav. Now I can barely watch it.
