how do you capture streaming video or audio if you save it or copy out of the cache you end with just a link most of the time

Im not 2 sure about that because I downloaded the entire SOXmas movie from one of the archives but all the other times you just get a link that is like 100 bytes long

what would make that site any different (sorry if the answer is obvious but I am ignorant about most of realplayer I just recently got it and dont shit about it)
