If you haven't heard Taison Tan (owner of one of the biggest unofficial South Park sites) got a message from Trey regarding Spin Magazine and how they are using South Park in their next issue without Trey and Matt's Consent. www.beefcake.com doesn't have a valid DNS entry from the standpoint of either Indiana University's computing network or from that of my previous employer.

Furthermore, I find it quitely unlikely that Trey Parker is as pathetic a writer as the forged letter indicates. Besides, does *anybody* else think Spin is a large media force compared to Rolling Stone?

That's a typo on the part of Yoda591. The real URL is www.beef-cake.com and it is, in fact, Taison's site.

The message seems valid enough. It may not contain numerous analogies and other literary gymnastics, but based on the show I'd say that's probably how Trey would write. As for Spin being a large media force, does anyone really care?

As much as I like South Park, I don't understand the reasoning here. Since when do you need the permission of a television show creator to write an article about a show? Is Spin illegally using material that is trademarked? If Southpark images are used and are trademarked, this shouldn't be an issue. It's a free country, and if journalists needed permission of people to write articles about them, we'd be living under the Nazis. Maybe we should wait until the issue comes out before passing judgement on Spin.

I don't think that's the issue here. Of course a magazine or newspaper can write about a show without permission. What Spin has supposedly done goes beyond that. I think being pissed that the hottest show on TV gave an exclusive cover to Rolling Stone, complete with artwork drawn by the original artists is one thing, but Spin, going out, and hiring their own graphic artist to draw the cartoon for their cover, with NO royalties to the authors, NO permission to do so, and just to spite the fact that RS has it on their cover, is pathetic. That's what they're pissed off about. The cover is one thing, you've also got the guys claiming that Spin has changed their words around for the interview they gave them or something, and made up a few things. That's also wrong.

Spin is turning into one of the most worthless shit magazines out there. A few months ago, they trashed the rap group, Insane Clown Posse, last month, Marilyn Manson claims they twisted HIS words around in the interview he gave them, and now the guys from South Park are going through the same thing, AND getting ripped off since some cheap knock off artists are doing the Spin cover.

What the hell happened to Spin? Their editors need a fucking kick in the nuts.

What the fuck is a troll? I'm only telling you guys what I read. As much as I'm in competition with Taison Tan's site (and want to beat his site) I still give him credit. He does get the news that no other site can get (and it's true stuff). I don't think he'd fake that shit. And who would make up that K-Mart line in that letter? He's right -- Taison has the Trey Parker notice on his site regarding the SPIN Magazine article from Trey himself. Trey also sent notices to other South Park sites regarding SPIN Magazine's article and his Marilyn Manson comments on the article they did on him last month. I've been waiting for SPIN Online on AOL to post the South Park story, but so far nothing....
