I think its official, this group has gone to the dogs, no wonder so many people left. Will our beloved newsgroup ever be the same? Yes! If some people decide to leave...and I pray that they do. This reminds me of "The Lorax". If any of you can get what I mean by that...

I remember that book! One person cut down a trufula tree and then all these other people joined in. The Lorax kept on warning them to not cut down the trees but they did it any way. Then they ran out of trufula trees and everyone left. But the guy who had started cutting down the trufula seed which he gave to a little boy to plant and start a new trufula forest.

Probably not! You figure, it's probably mostly preteens writing a lot of these "one-upping" posts. These kids were, more than previous generations, weaned on the TV. Most of these people probably think the only thing Dr. Seuss ever did was the Christmas special "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas," and couldn't tell you where the local library is unless they have to pass it on the way to school, when they actually go. Yes, I know that's a broad and sweeping stereotype of the post-"Gen X" generation, and not everyone is like that, but hang out at any mall on any given afternoon, and you'll see exactly why I've formed the opinions I have about this generation.
This newsgroup is quickly becoming prime resource material for those who think shows like South Park should be taken off the air, lest they lower childrens' IQ's any further... Let's just hope no researchers out there are lurking!

what SpringRobin probably meant by comparing this to "The Lorax". Of course, my
fave Dr. Suess is still, and will always be, Yurtle the Turtle. Yes, this
particular story (not one of the better known) is about a greedy turtle who
wants to rule over all that he sees, so he makes other turtles stand atop one
another so he can be above everything. Heres a little extra trivia for you
guys, the turtle was based on "Adolph Hitler"

Frankly, I don't even think a generation has passed. But, if that's the
case, it would really suck to be referenced to another generation and

Ahem. The Lorax was a book by Dr. Suess , in which a creature (called The
Onceler, I believe) comes and cuts down all the trees in a lovely place, and
slowly all the animals leave. I forget what th trees are called, but they had
some HUGE part in that book. I suppose basically what "SpringRobin" meant by
this refernece was that all these new people are scaring the others away. End
