12/1/99 Episode
My question is- why wasn't the cheesy lounge act like medley of Jesus and Santa included in the CD? First it was "Hell isn't Good". Now this.

Don't you mean 1/12/99 episode. Is that some strange American date format?
Karl.
Sadly, yes.
We use a format of MM/DD/YY, where other countries use DD/MM/YY. While it makes more sense to increment by relative unit increase, the US doesn't do that.
We also use miles instead of kilometers.
We use a different format of integer and decimal separators. A number to us is, say, 1,208,345.8976 - but to many other countries, it's 1.208.345,8976... I admit, I'm quite fond of this one.

No, real countries call last night (12/1/99) December 1st, not January 12th like apparently the backward British call it.

Yes it is. You see, we "Merkins" don't go for that EuroPEON crap. It's month/day/year, like REAL MEN are supposed to do it.

Have you seen the numbers? In terms of readiness for Y2K, the USA is the highest ranking nation on Earth. The only thing that might f*ck us up is the fact that we deal electronically with so many other nations. Their lack of preparation will cause us plenty of trouble. Believe it.

dumb children with no parental supervision, and access to a hammer.EXACTLY! We yanks are ALWAYS up to no good, you see (must be all that DNA from those convicts England used to evict to far-off shores). Our plan to take over the world (the same thing we do EVERY night, Pinky...) is to get as many "furrinurz" as we can hooked on the net and as much of their infrastructure rigged to be CPU-driven. When 1/1/99 (the date works in both US and Euro terms here) rolls in, nearly everyone outside the US will drop back into the steam age, and with us "merkins" taking over and running the circus from then on, we'll see to it that the third millenium isn't such a giant fuckup as much as Europe and China had made it during the second.
It's called "Revenge of the Immigrants"! MWAH-HAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAA!!!!!
If furplay's intent was to imply a Y2K disaster of sorts, he might stand on firmer ground if he used the date of 1/1/00. We already had a 1/1/99.
It would seem that furplay's argument is not Y2K compliant. :)

Odd. Just a short time ago, you seemed to revel in the fact that the US was, in fact, ready for the Y2K rollover. You even suggest that the US will be in charge of the world when "nearly everyone outside the US will drop back into the steam age" because they haven't prepared for Y2K.
You've missed an obvious avenue of advancement to your own argument. You could have said that the fact that an American noticed the difference between 99 and 00 is further proof that we will, in fact, dominate the world come Jan. 1.
But, no. You chose to shoot your own self in the foot. Guess the US won't dominate now, eh?

Certainly not to Mr. Cooper. When making cracks about the Y2K rollover one should make an effort to express it in some recognizable form of the date, e.g., 1/1/2000, 1/1/00, 2000/01/01, etc. Referring to 1/1/99, which happened roughly 11 months ago, makes the poster look like a jerk.
Bill Lynch
I doubt furplay is Y2K compliant. Let's wait & see if he posts after 991231.

God, why do Americans have this real inferiority complex. You do it different than most of the world, and then tell everyone else that they are wrong. The original poster was just asking a question about something they genuinely didn't know. If you have lived your life doing things one way, and you see someone else doing it a different way, of course you are going to question it. After a few of the subtle differences are sorted out, the rest of the world have learnt to just read over the American differences (such as spelling, pronunciation, date format...) and just accept that things are done differently than we do. Many Americans seem to believe that they are the centre of the world, so whatever they do is correct, and any other variation is beyond toleration.
So, for a condensed version of what I have written above, the correct answer should have been:
Karl, 12/1/99 is the date December 01, 1999 written in the date format mm/dd/yy which is the accepted standard in the US.
End of story, mmmkay.

Why not? I nominate the US of funkin' A as the Global Power! Europe has world wars at the drop of a hat, and would be well into WWXXIV if the US did'nt step in and say "two WW's is enough! Let's not forget that this "global power" totally got its ass kicked by a tiny little country back in the 70's. Vietnam, anyone?
Nowadays though it seems more like the US likes to butt in other countries' business.

Krunk get mad! Krunk SMASH!
It's easy to send a live creature into space......when the annoying part about trying to bring it back ALIVE is not important. A living chimp has a lot more propaganda value than a dead dog burning up in the atmosphere.
And notice how they had their way for a few decades without that eeeevil Uncle Satan was no longer meddling in their affairs, and a few years later they fucked their economy over and got into a few regional wars (we stayed out of those, by the way. We were having too much fun at the disco). Eventually, they asked the US of A to pretty-please come back in and invest before things REALLY fell into the shitter.

Yep, we lost the war in 'Nam alright (snicker!).
Because they always have a tendancy to suck the US in every time whenever they go apeshit. They know that the side the US drops behind is the side that will finish the fight (just get out a Oija board and ask Churchill).
(snip)
Yep, we did, big time, too (check out The Wall in DC before harping on this anymore). Since we had Coca Cola posters in Saigon before we sent in combat troops, it could be argued that we'd won the war before we tried to fight it.

THE US RULES!! GET USED TO IT!!
Hm. Neat trick, how a country can "rule", when they no longer subscribe to the notion of a Royal ruling family.
You seem to be pretty proud of the US. Ever been outside the states to promote that idea?
And apparently "we" also abhor proper English skills. Oh, wait, we don't speak "English". We speak "American", right?
Why would I wanna? :)
Rule can also mean "be larger in number, quantity or importance". In the sense that the rest of the world would get along better if England vanished from the planet then if the USA vanished from the planet, I'd say it's possible that furplay was correct in his statement.
A Royal ruling family. What an antiquated notion. Say what you will, I'd rather be governed by an elected president than a king by birthright any day.

Not to mention that Clinton basically runs the country like a corporation. He also acted like most corporate CEOs who are younger than Grandpa Marsh in that he likes a little on the side. It's a power game and attempting to say that someone's personal sex life should be a matter of job performance is assinine. (Granted, if you work in the sex trade maybe it's valid.)

I've always thought that if a simple blow job was all it took to give a man the courage he needs to run a country, then all White House interns should consider it their patriotic duty to drop to their knees when necessary. Being the OPSR (Official Presidential Sperm Receptacle) should be an honor and a reward for outstanding service, not unlike a cadet being chosen to walk the Tomb of the Unknowns in Arlington.
