Filters

Hi people,

Another newsgroup I'm on has a "rule" where posters have to put a four-letter string (in this case TRUK because it's an NG about a UK talk radio station) and people can set up their newsreaders to disregard messages without this string in it (or giving them a lower priority) and therefore not having to wade through spam.

I suggest something like SPARK (some newsreaders can't deal with two-letter filters) so this message should be posted as "SPARK: Filters").

What do the rest of you guys think?

Good idea, but what about newbies? They will think that they are being ignored which, yes, technically, they are, but not deliberately.
