I just got the first three South Park videos, (even though I knew they were bleeped), and enjoyed them a lot. Having only two episodes on each tape means that the quality is much better than the ones we taped off the air (we finally found out what was written on the side of Barbrady's police car, for example. On our original off-the-air tapes, it was too fuzzy to read.). The interviews with Matt and Trey were humorous, and we found out that these tapes themselves were not censored (Matt and Trey use the F-word when telling us the original name of "An Elephant Makes Love to a Pig," and it isn't bleeped out. This makes it seem that the episodes were originally made with the "bad" words bleeped. (But they still bleeped out "dirty," as in "dirty Jew" in the Death episode, so I may be wrong.)
The biggest disappointment was in the closed captioning. The folks at Comedy Central (the ones who did the captioning) obviously don't watch the show, and didn't pay much attention to what was actually being said on screen. For example, in Volcano, where Jimbo is picking up the kids for the hunting trip, he tells Cartman's Mom "I've brought my friend Ned," but the captioning says "Dan." There are many other examples where what was on the closed captioning was wildly different than what was on the screen.
All in all, I'm glad that we got the tapes, and I hope that the other episodes are released soon.
