I mean, honestly, 1st Episode this season, the new Metrosexual craze... 2nd Episode, downloading music for free... 3rd Episode, old people with driver's licenses...

Not only have all of the new episodes been "current events" oriented, the "current events" they cover aren't very "current." I know South Park has been very good at satirizing current situations, but these things they are poking fun at usually have just happened. Go back and look at the first and second seasons, most, if not all, of the episodes were just "the adventures of Stan, Kyle, Kenny, and Cartman. Seasons 3, 4, and 5 sprinkled in a few current event episodes, but just about all of season 6 and 7 have been that way. I would like to see some more "Scott Tenorman Must Die" type episodes this year, not just episodes that lampoon the stupid shit that is going on right now.

Oh and one more gripe...No Halloween episode this year? Season 1, we got "Pinkeye." Season 2, "Spookyfish" Season 3, "Korn's Groovy Pirate Ghost Mystery" Season 7 was the first season since 3 to air a new episode near Halloween, and we get "Christian Rock Hard." It was a great episode, but it wasn't Halloween...

But we need more stupid-shit-lampooning.

No one else does it, they just go like "yes sir, i like your new clothes, they are kewwwl" so south park has the responsibilty to go like, "sir, you're not only naked, you're also fat & ugly & gay."

But more 501-style would rock I agree totally.

there is this thing happening where M&T are getting a little fat, and they are losing their roots a bit. the voices of the characters are changing a little bit, just as happened to the simpsons before them. but then the simpsons got the original voices back, but they also became a corporate tool.

so you see? there is always hope.

I think T&M will pull the finger out just in time though, they are undoubtedly the most original TV artists since year dot.

I just watch like Season 2 & 3 and I think they should watch them & remember how the characters would do little crap that would just be out-of-control-funny like "hnyar" and "i'm gunna stick my thumb up its butthole" and "chocolate yum-yum bar anjo?"

501 had great Cartman-mathematics. It major think.

Define "just happened". The Quints ep was sort of a fluke, they busted a lot of ass to pull that one off. I don't see that sort of 'damn that only happened 3 days ago' thing happening much. So they wanna be topical, but not work 4 days straight...so you end up with "not very current" cuz it does take time to produce an episode.

Yeah, but "not very current" with the old stuff (Like Trapper Keeper (the Florida Elections), the Quints, and the Great Wall episode (kidnapping) was like "damn, that just happened last month." With these three episodes, "damn, that Metrosexual/downloading music for free/old people and their driver's licenses stuff just happened 6-7 months/a year ago." The Metrosexual thing is probably the most recent, and it started 4-5 months ago. At least, that's when that Queer Eye show started (I think.)

Well, if all they did was clip a newspaper article on Tuesday, we'd never get any episodes. I'm sure it was a huge bitch to whip that Quints episode out of their asses, Trapper Keeper too. My point being it's not something you'd want to do every week. It's just too much work. And besides, I bet M&T beat the shit out of each other whenever either one of them even suggest that kinda stunt now. "Jesus Christ dude, we are not doing that shit again."

Another point. It seems as if they're getting the episodes to CC earlier, and not at the Last Humanly Possible Moment. I mean, the promos for the next weeks show actually have scenes from next weeks' show!

Of course, I now fully expect next week's ep to be retooled at the last second to involve a topic which hasn't even hit the news yet. Just because it would make me look like a doofus.

There was a Vh1 special on SP. On that show, one of the SP producers was stated that because of the computers they use to animate the show (which are the same type of computers used to create the Jurrasic Park dinos), it only takes about 5 days to create a new SP episode. This is one of the reasons why SP can always come out with a "Ladder to Heaven" episode whenever they want.

Neither, I was just showing how easy it is for SP to come up with a "current events" episode since it doesn't take very long to animate an episode.

Yeah, these last 2 episodes have been really lame. The writing has been pretty lazy. The first few years of the show were just so well written, all you have to do is listen to the dialog, you don't even need the animation.

I hope this season improves. More episodes like Towlie and less "topical" ones.

Last night's episode was hilarious for people with a music biz background. "Christian rock" is the most lame shit on the planet. I laffed out loud when they scrolled the titles of the album.

As far as old people driving -- we had that incident of the old fart plowing into a crowd of people in Santa Monica not too long ago. Wasn't the first time he had fucked up either.

And then, Cartman did get his ass kicked...

I stopped watching the Simpsons years ago when it turned from a strong character driven show, into being a "guess all the pop culture references" show.

Its not like I blame Matt & Trey, after a while you just run out of ideas. I would rather see the show go out with a bang instead of just limp along.
