Tonight's South Park episode in the opinion of the Comic Book Guy from the Simpsons: WORST EPISODE EVER.

And I mean it, this is the worst SP episode ever, unless Trey and Matt can come up with one that's even worse.

While the plot of Timmy becoming a rock singer, thus pissing off Phil Collins, was funny (Trey must really be p'o'ed about the Bugaloo wannabe beating him for the Oscar), what ruined the episode was the Ritalin plot line.

The whole plot of the kids taking the medicine completely ruined what would have been a good episode. Instead of a hillarious episode centered around Timmy, they had to come up with a crappy plot in which the kids turn into mindless zombies. Even Kenny's death was a piece of crap that wasn't funny.

Sorry, Trey and Matt, but this episode is considered an all-time low IMO.

Ya gotta admit:the Christina Aguilera monsters were pretty damn funny.Hell, maybe Timmy is gonna be the main character in their next series, since CC is trying to give M&T a new series.

Huh? I thought this episode was one of the best yet! Did you catch how Phil Collins had the Oscar shoved up his ass at the end? ROFLOL!

It thought it was the funniest thing Trey and Matt have done since the movie.

Let me guess, you take Ritalin.

No let ME guess: You have nothing else to do in your life and no friends or activities to occupy your time, so you sit there snarling into the void and trying *desperately* to make other people hate the episode like you do, spewing such embarrassingly crass ad hominem insults that you make the Simpsons' "Comic Book Store Guy" look like Oscar Wilde. And all just to persuade people to your point of view -- as if that would make ANY FREAKIN DIFFERENCE TO ANYONE.

I thought this week's episode was a bit weak, but still in the top 30% or so of all the televised episodes (total now 51). The MTV sequence and the C.A. monster were inspired. If you didn't appreciate them, maybe you're just too young & inexperienced. Or too old & jaded (although I liked them and I'm well over 40). Or maybe you're just too self-absorbed to appreciate anything and you need to get out more.

Actually, I do make comments about other programs, but usually not in the mean mood a la the Comic Book Guy on the Simpsons. It was just that Wednesday's SP sucked so bad IMO that I had to be very negative to it. As for the thing about no friends and no activities: what do you expect when you're a jobless college student who lives in the suburbs and doesn't have a driver's license. Thus, the only things I could do is go on the Internet, watch TV, and play video games.

Well, I am 19, and I haven't been on Ritalin. So I guess I haven't have the experience of taking that medicine. As for the final suggestion, while I'm not self-absorbed, I do need to get out some more, since it is rough spending some weekdays at home while everyone else works.

I'd expect you'd do something about it. For example, GET a driver's license. Or get a bicycle. But even if that did excuse the lack of activity, it doesn't excuse lack of friends. That's an innate thing whose reason may be more surface-obvious and potentially fixable. I won't go into detail; you know what I mean.

The Internet holds great appeal for people who don't cope well with, or don't want to deal at all with, with the real world. I can't imagine you've become one of those people at only 19. If you think that's what's happening, act to stop it.

As for being jobless: Unless you're in Appalachia, you're living in one of the most jobhunter-friendly times in recent history. I won't say you're just lazy. (But if you're still posting like this next week, I might.)

It's more than rough, Joe. It's deadly. Unless you're physically disabled, staying home is the very worst thing you can do. Alaska excluded, all suburbs are connected somehow to larger communities. Find them. Breathe.

Damn right! I knew when Phil "muzak hack that used to be cool once, but then, so was disco" Collins scammed away with the Oscar, Trey was gonna make sure vengence would be done. I saw it coming, and when it landed, it was Hella-sweet.

You should'nt anger one who has almost free-reign over his own popular TV show, Phil! You'll lose every time! BWA-HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAA!!!!!

[remind me NEVER to fuck with Trey Parker. Ok guys?]

I thought it was great how the antidote to ridalin is ridalOUT. teehee

What I thought was weird was when they showed everyone who had taken Ritalin mellowing out. I thought Ritalin was a stimulant for most adults.

I did laugh when they revealed the antidote for Ritalin, "Ritalout."

can tell you that it also makes you uncomfortably aware of your

manner because of this, much like the portrayal on South Park. I
definitely have to agree that Ritalin is over-prescribed, and in many
cases, does more harm than good. I'm actually on four different drugs
now, and they din't have nearly the effect that Ritalin by itself did.
Anyway, I thought this South Park episode was hella funny,
especially the pink Christina Aguillera monsters. Fucking A, that shit
rocked! It'd be cool if Cartman had flashbacks sometime...

It is officially a stimulant, but not in the way we usually think of, say, coffee. Not all stimulants are things that make you wired. I'm grossly oversimplifying, but Ritalin mainly works by stopping certain processes that cause ADD or hyperactivity. It "stimulates" (hoo boy an I oversimplifying) mental *alertness*, so that the abillity to pay attention is increased. The kids seemed all mellow & placid because their brains were suddenly much more able & willing to *focus*. You notice they weren't sleepy or lethargic, just fairly imperturbable.

If there's a shrink or a biologist reading this group he'll probably rip the above to shreds (if it doesn't kill him just to read it), but that's *approximately* why the kids weren't wired.

Another way to think about Ritalin is this:

1. Everyone has an optimal level of brain stimulation/activity that varies from person to person.

2. If your brain is not being stimulated enough, you seek out the stimulation. This is the case in hyperactive children; their brains are under-stimulated, so they seek stimulation by going apeshit.

  • If your brain is receiving enough stimulation, you are "normal."

4. If you brain receives more stimulation than it needs, you will avoid external sources of stimulation. Introverted people are often like this; they don't need external sources of stimulation as much.

So, Ritalin works by stimulating the brains of supposedly hyper people, usually children. The premise is that these children cannot pay attention and are hyper because their brains are under-stimulated, causing them to seek this stimulation elsewhere, such as running around, yelling, etc. The drug is supposed to give them enough internal stimulation so that they don't try to seek it elsewhere as much.

The problem is that if they really didn't need Ritalin in the first place or if they are over-medicated, they withdraw and don't seek any external stimulation at all, choosing instead to sit around like cabbages. They are not tired; their brain is simply being stimulated so much by the drug that they choose not to add any more stimulation.

In article , Mark Tangard writes:

Actually, as I understand it, it makes you wired, but for some reason, it has the OPPOSITE effect with kids (possibly they get OVER wired?).

Bao H. LammyBen Raines

It stimulates the brain. This causes you to seek *less* outside stimulation because you already are being stimulated by the drug. The theory is that the brain has an optimal level of stimulation that it likes to maintain. If it isn't being stimulated enough, the person seeks the stimulation elsewhere. In kids, this is theorized to manifest itself in the form of disruptiveness, hyperactivity, and attention-deficit disorder (ADD). ADD in this case because the person (or kid) doesn't want to pay attention to what they consider boring and their mind wanders...

But why should Garrison take offense at Stan calling Timmy retarded when in "Chicken Lover," Garrison called Barbrady a "retard"?

Steve Suttonterrinoble

Well, since Timmy was retarded and Barbrady is just slow-witted, I really don't know.
