It's not the most common way females *attempt* suicide though.

Anyone who's out to snuff it for real usually opts for a gun. Pills, asphyxiation, jumping, I know someone who tried to kill themselves by driving a car of a (not too steep) cliff, are all to unreliable.

Six of one, half a dozen of the other, suffice it to say, suicide is a bad idea overall.

Want an interesting read? Find the infamous alt.suicide.holiday methods faq. Wow. *eyebrows raised* It's downright fascinating, because it often includes anecdotes and little stories about people who both JUST failed and JUST succeeded, so they know where the limitations are. I wouldn't recommend it for an afternoon of light browsing, but it makes for some very interesting material.
