Hey guys and gals,
Don't you all think it's proper netiquette in a newsgroup such as this to delete the person's email address when you click reply to a message?
I get enough spam already without having my email address put on display in a newsgroup without my knowledge.

The easiest thing to do is include a "spam-blocker" in your email address. There should be some sort of option in your email program that lists your email address. Alter it so it has something like this:
[email] [email]
and so forth. Just make sure you specify to people in your posts that they have to remove the spam-blocker to email you.

If someone replies to a post you make, your email address has normally already *been* displayed in the newsgroup. Some newsreaders repeat that address in the attribution line ("so-and-so wrote:") and some don't. BUT:
The source of most newsgroup-post-induced spam is not the attribution line. It's the FROM field of the post itself, which the "bots" look at and harvest addresses from. If you're being flooded with spam and you think it's from your newsgroup posts, your only real choices are (1) stop posting, or (2) get an ISP arrangement that lets you tweak your displayed address in the FROM field -- I don't think Yahoo lets you do this -- and post using that address. You'll never succeed in establishing a new netiquette rule that makes people edit your address in the attribution line if their newsreader inserts it. (Look how impossible it is even to get people not to quote the whole original message just to add one dumbass line like "I agree" or "me too.")
If you look around here, you'll see dozens of spam-foiler addresses in use. All it takes is something extra in the address (preferably to the RIGHT of the "@" sign, so that spam doesn't even make it to your provider's system), e.g., [email]
