...or does anybody else think Series 6 has been a huge disappointment?

Episode 611 has got to be one of the worst I have ever seen. All that crap with the Chinese guy building the wall even beat the Russell Crowe sketch for managing to stretch out a not particularly funny joke for almost an entire episode.

After such classics as "Scot Tenorman Must Die" and "Proper Condom Use" in Series 5, I really can't see how the show has managed to go down hill so quickly.

I really hope they get their act together for Series 7.....

Is "subtlety" part of your vocablary? The wall thing was hilarious slapstick. But there was a very subtle message going on re 09/11. The kids ending up with "The Mongorians" is like the saga of Johnny Walker Lindh. And the whole parental overeaction to inflated news stories about abductions, to the point of just being loonies, is exactly how the country is reacting to this "terrorism" thing. The stop-light warning codes, the suspiciousness, the TIPS idea, the "spy on your neighbor" hooplah and having the cable guy look for terrorists being generate by a bunch of morons on TV, it's all the same! This was a really good episode, but only if one can think more than a Limbaugh loon (who don't think because they haven't any brains and are rilly rilly BEHIND OUR (P)RESIDENT!!!).

     Oh, yeah.  News reports yelling "Your kids are not safe in [ insert
place ]" over and over again.  Parents going automatically crazy when they
hear that.  That "Ghost of Human Kindness" guy pontificating about how the news
shows very little of what real life's like.  That's all so subtle you might
miss it if not for the sledgehammer. :-)
     I'm not saying that this stuff is bad.  The news blowing lurid stories
like child abductions way out of proportion to get ratings is something worth
digging at.  But I sure wouldn't use the word "subtle" to describe this ep.

I don't remember hearing anything about Johnny Walker's parents sending him away to protect him.

Obviously you see it. Do you know there are a lot of loons out there who don't? Who actually swallow that traffic-light bullshit about "safety code alerts"? That's been another problem with South Park lately. Trey and Matt seem to think if something is kinda funny the first time and annoying the next few times, it'll be funny as hell if it's a running gag throughout the whole show. The Russell Crowe thing was really stupid, as was all that stupid stuff about crapping out of your mouth. I guess when you only have 5 days to make an episode, you have to stretch out all your jokes as far as they'll go. The best SP jokes are probably the ones Matt and Trey think of weeks in advance and have time to tweak before they stick them in an episode (like the Silence of the Lambs parody)

That's because "Scott Tenorman Must Die" was an episode that wasnt based on a topical news headline. Matt and Trey were able to hold off that episode for a few weeks to really make it good before they aired it. It's really episode 601, thought it aired fourth in the season.
