South Park - No Big Deal

the sucess comes (IMO) from the fact that the show is totally NON-PC. Most americans have had jsut about their limit on the whole "You can't say this/you can't do that" type of thing that the yuppie-ish 90's generation has produced. SouthPark allows us to laugh at stuff we can't really laugh at in public

Examples:

Racist slurs Sexual innuendos Nazi's Religious bashing(Christianity, Judeism, etc) Teaching 8yr olds about sex talking about drugs poking at people with disabilities extreme voilence fecalphiliacs vomit belittling other people

All these examples will either get you sour looks, labeled a racist, or a punch in the mouth if expressed in public...in the sanctuary of your own home, well it's okay...who's gonna yell at you except people you know.

It's funny how much people talk about Southpark, especially when this type of humor is really popular in europe (Young Ones, Bottom, etc)..i guess USA is jsut a little lagged in that respect.

And for you SP haters...there is hope. Hate the Mecha-Streisand episode if you must, but In beat its record in the ratings, getting a 6.9 share which beat a NETWORK program (ABC Primetime Live only had a 6.8 share)

The point? Next Week is the final episode for this season, and it will undoubtedly beat its record...but then that's it until the second season which is about 5-8 months away. SP is in such a rise in popularity...will it stand with 5-8 months of nothing new??? I firmly believe that Matt and Trey(show creators) were allowed to have maybe 4 more episodes this season it would be battling prime time network shows (those that are getting 11.0 and 12.0 shares)

so, is SP stuck at 1 season?? Is it the future of American television or will it suffer the same fate as Ren and Stimpy(well, then again, I don't think CC is STUPID enough to fire Matt and Trey like Nickelodeon with with Kricfalusi)...we cna only see

(My belief is that expect to hear "oh my god, they killed kenny" for a LONG time to come)

and that's the bottom line...why?

I agree with the Stern/South Park comment. I listen to Stern and watch South Park. Both provide a great contrast to normal life.

No....but I bet they go on to bigger and better things. They were recently paid 1.5 million to write a sequel to "Dumb and Dumber".
