South Park on DVD- should be better!

While it's great that the DVD release of SP has four episodes per disk for the same price as two episodes on tape, the 'popping' problem with the first six DVD episodes is very annoying, and a bad sign for the commitment and quality control at Rhino/Comedy Central in producing DVDs.

I suggest that we petition Rhino/CC and Matt & Trey to put more effort into the DVD authoring process before releasing the second season disks. There is so much more that can be done with the format- at the moment they aren't doing much more than dumping the VHS contents onto disk... what a waste!

First, Matt & Trey may not have anything to do with the authoring. Over in alt.video.dvd, I've heard that the problem with the popping is because it is playing back in one mode (Dolby Digital) and the audio source can't decode or downmix it properly - if you'll check there, you may find a workaround.
