Wouldn't you "sell out" if you had the opportunity?

Gimme a break! They're making money of the franchise they created. There's nothing wrong with that. South Park is still the funniest, most innovative show on TV, and that's something that hasn't changed.
That changed half way through season 2.

Oh poo, we're now halfway through season 2 here in Oz....oh well.
Agreed. Hell yeah they sold out. More power to 'em.

Selling out is cool, because yo can make a lot of money and tell your friends to "screw off!".

Comedy Central owns the characters, and they do what they wish with them. The multitudes of merchandise have nothing to do with Matt and Trey...they're too busy working on the show and movie.
I thought Trey and Matt owned enough of the franchise to decide what can get done. IIRC, they said that they're responsible for where the toys and merchandise can be sold; since it's targeted at kids, I think they've said that they'll only allow the stuff to be sold in "older people's" stores, not toy stores...

It's like Stan's very own definition of "selling out" -- anyone that makes a living in the entertainment industry. *Smiles*
Quick SP story: As I was buying my Kyle costume for Halloween today in Spencer's this stupid guy asked me "Aren't you a girl?"

*snicker* What was your reply? "Yes, genius, are you blind? I'm trying to be original!"

I said "No hon, I'm a transvestite, so it doesn't really matter what gender I am for Halloween...." *insert eyerolling here*
But seriously... if guys can dress up as girls for Halloween (I wonder how many guys are going as Wendy ;), then why can't girls dress up as guys for Halloween? Sheeesh.

I see that they got geniuses working at Spencers :)

I think they have overmerchandised a little, but I don't think they have "SOLD OUT!!!"
So what? They are talented guys who created one of the funniest sets of characters on TV. I mean really...that's not selling out. That's being smart business people. Why shouldn't they merchandise the product? They created them, they earned it. And I am sure they worked exteremely hard to do it.
Thanks for letting me vent.
