South Park & MAD Magazine

The most recent issue of MAD Magazine has South Park on the cover, not to mention a "South Park Products We'll Soon Be Seeing" article. Even the "Fold-In" is South Park related. You might want to check it out. Also, judging from the article, the MAD writers really seem to have done their South Park research...

I'm a MAD fan. And I like the movie and TV parodies.

I also forgot to mention that there are two collector's covers -

Stan, Cartman, and Kyle are on the ground. Alfred E. Neuman is standing under the D in MAD, which Kenny is sawing off. Kyle is saying "Look dudes! Alfred's here in South Park! WHAT NEXT?"

The other one I have yet to see, but apparently it's Alfred crushed by the D. The kids are saying "Oh my God, Kenny killed Alfred! Sweet!"

I hope it's funny 'cause I still like Mad, but I find they sometimes run into a wall trying to satirize what's already satire. When they did the Simpsons their stuff was just about the same thing the Simpsons show is anyway. On a similar comparison, Mad did a parody of Family Matters once and Reginald and someone else go to the North Pole to get away from Urkle -- and Urkle shows up at the North Pole, parka, mittens, snow shoes and all. It's exactly the kind of joke they do on Family Matters anyway! So a parody of a parody might be weak for Mad and South Park together.

I give up -- I'm gonna run out and buy it.
