That was a very nice thing to see at the end of tonight's episode - the little silent tribute to all of Mary Kay's characters. Right after they got through showing the main characters in the little flashback ovals, all of Mary Kay's characters came back into the picture. That blew me away, thinking how sad the animation folks must have been when they were working on that one little part.

I agree. I thought that that was a very moving thing to do. I am wondering if they are going to ever dedicate an actual episode to her, though.
Two weeks ago they dedicated Starvin Marvin in Outer Space to Mary Kay.

I'm so glad someone else noticed this. I noticed the female characters singing together, but I wasn't sure if it was really meant to be referring to her or not. I thought I was crazy (well, I am, but that's another story). Yes, it was a very touching silent tribute for her and the fans as well. I can't believe they put Princess Diana in hell, though!

And it was really sweet that all of her characters were smiling. That was a nice touch.
It blew me away even more to see Stan and his mother hugging right after that bit. Yes, I know that they're only cartoons, but the symbolism was very moving.
BTW- People magazine has a one-page story about Mary Kay. Not very good, but the photo is very nice.
Tell me aboot it. My ex used to laugh at me cause I'd get kinda teary at certain things.

if it's off the stands where you live (which it may be since the new issue comes out tommorrow) you can probably get the text on people's website. the picture that accompanies it is still available via yahoo's photo archive. just punch in matt or trey or mary kay and it should come up.

I disagree. i think it is true to matt and trey's art. killing kenny after the mary kay tribute is a way of saying "she would have wanted it that way".

The south park episodes are all back logged. They've got several more episodes they can put out before they have to use a new actress. Chances are that this episode was finished long before Mary Kay took her life.

of course it's been finished for awhile. but, how many episodes have matt and trey put on the air that they didn't change at the last minute? very few. they're used to working up until the very last second possible and in this case they had an entire three weeks to change a scene.

I'm sure most of it was completed in advance, but it probably didn't take much extra tweaking (and no voice dubs at all) to incoporate that little montage of the female characters at the end. The significance of which COMPLETELY flew over my head until I read this newsgroup, btw...
