Mecha Streisand VS Damien

I dunno, I'm starting to feel a little out of touch here, folks. I was thoroughly *not* impressed with the whole Damien episode. It was decent, but personally, I thought it was the weakest one so far. Everyone on the newsgroup seemed to have really loved it, though, which wouldn't be that odd if there weren't so many complaints about the Mecha-Streisand episode. Now I'll admit right off the bat that I both (1) Hate Barbara Streisand and (2) Love the old Godzilla movies, but even if those two reasons were not there, I still think that I would have liked the episode. Why? Well, Cartman's "masta got me workin'" song at the beginning, Cartman covering his ass when the kids think that the helicopter is the aliens returning, Mecha-Ike, Kenny's INCREDIBLY funny death (for those who don't get it, it was funny because he died so simply, when you would think he'd get whacked by the monsters), Cartman jumping to get at Kyle's doorknob, the background in the Chef/Leonard car ride, and countless other stuff.

Naa, I agree with you. Damien was as dull as South Park gets (reads: still a funny show) and Mecha-Ba-Bu-Ra was very funny on many levels (reads:STILL the smartest show on TV)

Streisand and (2) Love the old Godzilla movies, but even if those two reasons were not there,

I agree completely with you, as I have posted here already....the "Damien" episode had a nice premise but completely lacked humor. This on the other hand, had a shaky premise but pulled it off anyway with superb writing. A dramatic improvement....hope we get more efforts like this week's in the future...

I completely agree with you. I did not really enjoy the Damien episode too much. It could be because I was really psyched for the new episode and might have been expecting too much. And, I thought Mecha Streisand was perhaps THE funniest episode so far. Most of the newsgroup thinks the exact opposite. Maybe it's just me and you on this one dude.

Really? Most of the posts I've read haven't been positive for Damien. While I thought it was good, not many other people seem to share that feeling.

What does one have to do with the other?

Even though I've never really seen a Godzilla movie for more than 10-15 minutes, I still enjoyed this episode. It was no Mr. Hankey, but then again few are. Having not seen Godzilla movies, I'm sure I didn't fully appreciate the related scenes, but they were still good. Shouldn't the characters mouths have not be synched with the lines, though?

They have lines in the dorms, and multiple labs. Mason is decent.

Perhaps I'm not reading enough posts. It definitely seemed to me that more people really liked than disliked the Damien episode.

The fact that I consider the second to be much better than the first. Which was odd at the time, but different people find different things funny.

There were quite a few Godzilla references that you wouldn't catch, had you not seen some of the movies, such as the twins in the seashell, and stan's "Robert Smith, do Robot Punch!", for example. Much more funny if you are familiar with the genre, I guess.

Maybe there has been a change of attitude lately, or maybe people just like Damien better than Mecha Streisand. I thought Damien was good the first time I saw it & wasn't real impressed by Mecha Streisand.

Ah, now I understand. Sort of.

I figured the twins must be from a Godzilla-ish movie, and I think I'd heard/seen the robot punch before, probably in some anime. Are the triangles from an acutal movie, or was that made up?
