I'm Amazed...

..at the reaction of many of the posters here. I'm referring to those that somehow think that last nights replacement for SouthPark, the April Fool joke, was some sort of outre experience. I'm reading descriptions like "brilliant", "extremely funny" "ROTFLOL" "stroke of genius". Wake up people! You've been had. You can't see that the emperor has no clothes? I know there's a sucker born every minute but I didn't realize they all subscribed to this ng. Stop & think. If you saw that 1/2 hour cartoon stand alone would you really think it was funny? Of course the other side of the coin, those that are frothing at the mouth, ready to commit hari kari, are over reacting but at least they can recognize shit when they see it.

I thought it quite funny. The farting jokes were a bit much, but nothing happened in that episode that couldn't just as easily been in a normal episode. Is the only reason you think it isn't funny because it didn't have the normal characters? I'll bet that if T&P was the normal show and they had a SP episode as a joke, all the same people would be saying that Cartman, Stan, etc. sucked.

As an April Fool's joke it was funny. As a cartoon it was mediocre. I hope that they don't replay it.

They atleast replayed the Halloween episode so last Wednesday wasn't a compete waste. (IMHO)

The episode in question was not played on April fool's day in Australia so I never made the connection that it might be an April fools joke. But from watching it I never expected them to reveal who Cartmans father was. It seemed perfectly obvious to me that he would not be revealed, but even then I cannot see how a viewer can demand to know such things.

the above mentioned A. either didn;t fall for the joke, or laughed when they realized they did. and B. Enjoy all of Trey and Matt's work (aka, stone and parker fans)

so to answer your question, would I have enjoyed T&P if it was a stand alone show...yes I would, I enjoy all of Trey and Matt's work...I intend to see BASEketball, I want to see Orgasmo if I can locate it...and I will probably see the prequel to Dumb and Dumber that they are writiing...

I've always thought Terrance and Philip was Trey Parker and Matt Stone's reaction to critics that claimed South Park was nothing, but poorly animated fart jokes. The best pranks usually teach. Looks like this one showed South Park isn't merely poorly animated fart jokes. The uproar about Cartman's dad is bonus points.
