I loved the 4/1 ep!

I'm surprised at the negative reaction to last night's episode, cmon people, it was supposed to be hilariously subversive! It shows that SP has some real cleverness and imagination behind it, and goes beyond the "oh my god! They killed Kenny!" reputation. I didn't get angry, because I knew they wouldn't say who Cartman's father was. If you want to, you can look at it like I did, and accept that Saddam Hussein is Cartman's father. The whole point of the extended T&P segment was supposed to get old pretty quick, that's what makes it hilarious. Anyone pick out the Empire Strikes Back lines? "Pray that I don't change my mind any further" "This deal is getting worse all the time!" SP reminds me of the Simpsons starting out, I remember back when it started, all my friends hated it, and thought it wouldn't last, and look at it now, whenever I watch the early episodes in syndication, it seems like a different show compared to the current season. I think SP has the potential to do the same thing.

I do have to admit, the farting and laughing got really old. I mean 30 seconds of them doing that is fine, but 30 minutes is a different story.

Given how obsessive people have been about their theories, it would have been difficult to write an episode that wouldn't piss off a lot of people. And Trey and Matt didn't even try, which is the cool thing. Rudeness and irreverence have been at the heart of the show from the beginning, and so people shouldn't be surprised when that attitude is turned toward them.

This episode makes fun of the audience in a way, but not a snooty way, because it also makes fun of itself at the same time. The point is that it's only a half-assed cartoon, and we shouldn't take it too seriously.

I'd like to see the earlier episodes of that show; I never paid attention to it when it was first gaining popularity.

Does anyone else think that Torgo would make an amusing guest character on South Park?
