24/7 flat rate ISP?

my ISP after doing a bait and switch now wants to charge me a per hour useage rate over 100hrs, just because they can. why dont they regulate this stuff? they are screwing people like me who actually use thier system instead of the majority of thier users who dont do anything, they want $$ for nothing. i know for a fact GTE cant support more than 20% of thier paying customers at a time yet they want to charge me because they dont want to upgrade their system.

so anyone know of a reliable dial up that has a flat rate? for 24/7?

My ISP (Prodigy Internet) charges $19.95 per month, unlimited access. I've never gotten a busy signal from them in over a year daily usage. I usually connect at about 31,200 bps. The only time I had any trouble connecting was when their server went down for three hours while they upgraded their system. Hope this is useful info!

the thing is i have never had any prblems with gte, and i conect everytime @48000 and dowload 52k or so. i am upset that they are changing their rates as of nov the first that gives me less than a months notice

In fact AT&T is pressuring all ISPs to eliminate unlimited plans to reduce the amount of time that people spend online while at the same time lobbing congress to enact an Internet tax so they can collect more money. How does �0.00p for 24/7 sound? Seems pretty damn flat to me.

Of course you still have to pay the phone bill, (or use it at work like me, hehe), but I'll certainly be trying them out in a few days.
