This so reminds me of the infamous "Poochie" episode of the Simpsons, wherein the fat comic store owner declares to Bart that "This was the worst episode ever. Rest assured I was on the Internet in minutes registering my distaste to the whole world." He then says that the creators of the show owe the fans more. "Owe you?" replies Bart. "They've provided you with hours and hours of free entertainment. If anything you owe THEM!" <Pause> "Worst episode ever!", fat guy says.
To me, this episode said a lot of things:
1) "April fools!" 2) It's just a TV show. 3) "You think 'South Park' is puerile and offensive? HERE'S puerile for ya!" 4) Canadians are goofy. (The accents have *nothing* to do with Canada, except for the conspicuous "aboot" thrown in.) 5) Real animation fans can appreciate the way-low-quality animation and the stupid voices. 6) Real "SP" fans can get the joke and appreciate it for what it is.
Personally, I thought there were a lot of funny bits: "Maybe Scott is just a homophobe." "But, we're not gay." (I thought this was a play on the Christian Right's "Bert and Ernie are gay." thing from a few years ago) "I wish you both had cancer! In the head!" "Head cancer??!!" "You're a dick" "You're a dick!" "You're a dick!"...... The whole "Ugly Bob" thing.
To see people calling for a boycott over Terrance and Phillip is reminiscent of a certain SP episode, no?
Every month, a bunch of fans get hairs up their asses about something, and the rest of us end up getting screwed......
