Trolls Who are they REALLY??

I noticed in the "Who are the trolls in this group" thread that people were saying that certain people either were or were not trolls in accordance to their e-mail addresses etc. The thing is I THINK it is a fairly easy thing to do, isn't it?

In order to find out, I'm gonna try and FAKE a message from some one picked at random. Now guys, I'm *fairly* new to the NG culture, and if I can do it then ANYone can...

I'm gonna choose BitchMom for this for the reason that She has a very unique sig etc.....

Sorry, dude! It didn't work! There's a few things that differ between her headers, and your headers, when you wrote as her here.

First thing, in the FROM: part of it, hers shows as being, "[email]" (BitchMom)" and in yours, it is as follows, " 'BitchMom' "

And, under ORGANIZATION:, hers is, "@Home Network" and yours shows up as that of the organization it normally shows when you post as Covenant, "Customer Of Planet Online"

It's not that easy with getting away with imposterizing people! ;)

No, but you CAN just change your screen name to someone else's. I think that's what hapened in the Ptolsky, Boing guy debate. I think that the boing guy changed his screen name to Ptolsky so that everyone would see the other similarities (like you mentioned) and make the connection that Ptolsky was the boing guy. They saw his email address and organization were the same and figured they were the same people. Then, now that Ptolsky has a different organization and email address associatied with his posts, people think he just changed it to avoid detection. But they "know the truth" about his past, right? I don't think Ptolsky is the boing guy. I think that the connection was made between the two because the boing guy wanted Ptolsky to look bad. Just like he's trying to do with Leespam now.

Oh yes it is... I remember the days of writing programs to spoof as somebody else... but that was a long time ago.
