South Parks 2 year premiere anniversary

On this day 2 years ago, South Park premiered on Comedy Central with Cartman gets an Anal probe

Amazing.......despite all the controversy and hoopla surrounding pstokley as the boinger (or not), when you really think about it he's one of the biggest and oldest South Park fans in here (and I believe one of the earliest posters in this newsgroup too), with him always posting these "anniversary" messages. Kudos to you dude.

Nope, at that point, I hadn't even HEARD of South Park, not to mention this newsgroup. :)

I remember that I was lurking around that time..I saw the 'April Fool's' sign and instantly thought 'the newsgroup is gonna be pissed..' Pissed was an understatement.

My first post to alt.tv.southpark was on September 15, 1997.

It concerned the 2nd episode, "Weight Gain 4000", specifically what was written on Mr. Garrison's chalkboard; "No me toquen Los Huevos".

Can anyone else verify an earlier posting, or was mine the earliest?

Obviously servers don't propagate messages at the same rate or with the same distribution, especially when a newsgroup is just starting. For example, the message from "ryan" mentioned above was actually a reply to an earlier message from Davin Swanson ([email]) that isn't in the archive..... at least it CLAIMS to be an earlier message, although its date stamp according to the citation in ryan's post is later. Confused?

Oh, also some fool who doesn't understand how the Internet works made a post titled "I was the first!!!!!" which is dated well after the first few dozen posts from other people on different servers.

If you're looking for continuous attendance, probably not. If "excused absences" are OK, I've been here since early September 1997. (The group arrived on my then-server the day after the third episode premiered.)

Correction: 4th episode (3rd ep was still in August).
