Anyone who lives in the Los Angeles area and listens to KROQ will already know this, those of you who don't will probably appreciate the news.
According to the creators Matt & Trey (on the Kevin & Bean morning show last week), Comedy Central has plans to release South Park on video after episode 13 (the entire run).
Also they learned after episode 4 that they were picked up for 13 more episodes.
Who knows when 13 will air, but I already plan to have the unedited, uncut videos in my collection.

Was it stated on that morning show if "Spirit of Xmas" was going to be relesed on tape as well?

Well, I'm not really sure but I've never heard of a tape that can hold 286 minutes of footage (13 multiplied by 22, the usual number of minutes minus commercials). Most likely they would put about 4 episodes on each tape. Or, maybe they will just put one per tape and try to milk all the money they can. :)

Yeah, with a serious loss in quality too. 8 hour tapes are formatted to handle a faster speed. The traditional 2 or 4 hour tapes are what most professional videos use b/c of the enhanced picture quality. If videos for sale were available in 6 or 8 hour format, you wouldn't see 2 videos for, say, JFK or Hamlet, now would you?

Isn't the quality on them complete shit though? You can stick 6 hours on a 2 hour tape, but the quality goes out the fuckin window. If you're going to sell it professionally, you're going to want high quality. And if I'm not mistaken, the magic number for tv shows on tape (especially cartoons) is 2 per tape. Of course, that is very likely to change at any given moment. That's the industry.
