Shelly Babysits Cartman: Bad episode

It's amazing how one of the best episodes (Sexual Harassment Panda) can be immediately followed by one of the worst (Shelly Babysits Cartman). There was not a single laugh to be found in the whole episode. I hope they'll do better next week.

An episode that focuses so much on Cartman should have been much better. Maybe it's best to stick with stories that involve all four characters, and include the usual Kenny Death and Chef sex song. I really missed seeing the other characters and usual show trademarks.

I'm also dumbfounded by last night's show. Where the ----were Kyle, Stan and Kenny!!! Shelley isn't an interesting enough character to carry a show. And why was Cartman so sympathetic?

My theory is next week will be Stan only...and the party from the preview is the same one Cartman's mom went to. Possibly a series of 4? I'm probably the only person, but I thought it was one of the best yet. Kept me on my toes the whole time, waiting for the old formulaic stereotypical "South Park"isms. Up there with Not Without My Anus.

It's nice that they broke away from the formula a bit. In many ways, this episode was more like the original eps than recent ones. Part of the charm of South Park in the beginning was relating to some of the situations the kids went thru. Lately, the show has been more of a political ripping forum.....I liked this episode a lot! I remember what it was like to have a crappy babysitter who wasn't all that great! It worked as a plotline completely! Plus, Newt's line "They mostly come at night....mostly" ....is just frickin' classic.....we used to mutter that in college a lot...having Cartman do it was great. And Kitty...well, watching a horny cat bring home an orgy load of catnip snorting alleycats was just great. This was probably the best episode since the Iceman one! hehe.

Any one that has owned a cat in heat should have seen the humor in this episode.

The other bonus of course was the faux Lion sex documentary! I can`t help it, I love all things Cartman.

this reminded me very heavily of a female cat I had in 1977-78. That cat wanted to get boned in the worse way AND she let everyone know it. Even my wife was laughing at this one. The kitty orgy was killer.

I loved it! I thought the episode painted a different picture of Cartman, more as a fat eight year old wanting some acceptance, even to the point of helping Shelley to get it. The cat stuff was great. What was it with the first cat that Miss Kitty encountered, the really fat one? And Having the frenzied felines dispose of the evil boyfriend was a great way to tie the two themes together. Looking forward to other "solo" episodes.

Well, there have been complaints that SP is becoming a little too formulaic and straying from its roots; spewing political shit and forgetting how the world looks through eight-year-old eyes. Perhaps Banriff are responding to some of the feedback they're getting...
