Butters based on who?

The character Butters from the last episode seems awfully familiar. Does anyone know what show or movie the character is a reference too. I seem to remember an old show from the '50s that had a similar character, but I can't put my finger on it.

He sounds ALOT like a mouse from several Warner Brothers cartoons... "Sniffles", I think his name was. Talked in a high=pitched childish voice. The character was sort of re-invented in Tiny Toons as "Little Sneezer", who was a baby version of the character, with a wicked sneeze ability.

Check out a few of the old Warfner Brothers cartoons... I'd wager you can spot Sniffles at some point. I remember one episode where he meets up with a bat and the two of them trick a kitty or something.

I don't know about the character, but the name is taken from Eric Stough's nickname "Butter".

Butters (aka Jacklyn Smith) reminded me of Stan w/out the hat and blond hair.

yeah, there was this one scene where they quickly changed from butters to stan and basically juxtaposed stan's head exactly on where butters head would have been if the "camera" didn't swivel around the room. so, it's like confusing when butters instantly is stan, and you shake your head asking "what???"

There was a old time radio show called Fibber Magee and Molly. There was a little neighbor girl who talked just like butters did.

All I know is that Butters was the first kid who touches Cartman and says, "Oooooooooooo" when Cartman demanded the other kids touch him since he saw Asses of Fire.

Ohh, as a BTW here, I see some screenshots of the SP Movie, and I see a few pics with someone who looks exactly like Butters...there's this one of him and Cartman at http://www.geocities.com/SouthBeach/Cove/6648/SouthPark/cartmantouched.gif

Is this him, or a lookalike? I don't remember him being called by name or anything (as it was brief). Or am I just being psychotic?

That looks like the same kid...he's been everywhere on the show...but I've never heard a name for him till last nite.
