Oops! Mistake in Christmas Episode

I haven't seen this pointed out so far, unless it was pointed out in the Chris Farley posts (which I have skipped since this is a South Park Group!). Kyle's mother says that her son should not play Joseph of Arimathea. Since it had been a while since I've actually read the Bible (I no longer go to church because organized religion does nothing for me), I checked into that line because it didn't sound quite right. Joseph of Arimathea was the man who came to bury Jesus, he was not his earthly father (or as I put it, his step dad - and my mother is never amused when I say that :). Papa Joseph (step dad) was of the House of David and not from Arimathea. Somebody goofed. Oh well - just another "Did you notice" post :).

True, I think we can safely assume that that little mix up was because Kyle's mom is jewish, and really wouldn't have any reason to know which joseph is which. There are also several Mary's in the new testement, and i suppose anyone without a proper grounding in christianity would get them mixed up as well.......

And I think the reason Mr. Garrison didn't catch her little mistake is because as we see from his history lessons, he is mixed up on just about everything.........

Seriously, that mistake (if it was a mistake)was very noticeable -- please excuse me for misquoting, but when Kyle's mom said something about enjoying the Christmas (rather than generic holiday) pageant later, it sounded strange for her to say that since she objected to it.

Politically correct holidays are so ridiculous that SP has to go pretty far to be more over-the-top than reality. At a Pier One in my town, they had a sign over the Christmas stockings saying "HOLIDAY STOCKINGS". Rather ridiculous as I can't recall stockings being hung by the chimney with care for any other holiday other than Christmas.

It wasn't a mistake. Kyle's mother is Jewish. One Joseph from the Christ story would be the same as the other to her - especially since she is portrayed as a particularly ignorant woman. Then again, everyone in South Park is portrayed as being particularly ignorant, so why should she be any different?

Actually, the smartest denizens of South Park have been proven to be the cows.
