Also, "../tv/southpark/" isn't a good example of where the messages would be stored, since it's a relative path, and there's no indication of which path it is relative to. On many UNIX systems, the messages would be stored in /var/spool/news/alt/tv/southpark/ unless I've forgotten a subdirectory somewhere.

Well if you wanted to represent "etc" you should have used "..." instead of ".." because ".." is a virtually universal representation of "previous directory".
